Ingredients: Glycol Distearate
This is used as a pearlising agent or opacifier for emulsions or surfactant formulations.
Upon cooling, this recrystalises to form either a turbid or pearlescent structure - giving a luxurious look to your surfactant formulation or cream.
Material Origin: The glycol part of this molecule is sourced from ethylene glycol, which is currently petrochemical derived. The distearate is from stearic acid, which is usually from vegetable sources.
Solubility: Oil Soluble, but surface active so can be melted into an aqueous product.
Melting Point: 58-64 C.
Usage: Up to 10%.
